Professional Face Peel Aftercare: Simply Acne Treatment (50 Min) - With A Peel (7 Days)

By Simply Facials | September 10, 2026

One of the most common things we hear the day after a peel add-on is how much calmer skin can look, like the inflammation finally backed off and everything feels deeply cleansed. To keep that going, your #1 rule for the first 48 hours is simple: keep your skin gentle and protected. Cleanse with lukewarm water and a mild, non-foaming cleanser, moisturize, wear broad-spectrum SPF 30+, and skip heat, sweat, makeup, and active ingredients until any redness settles.

Quick mindset shift: the peel did the work in the room. Aftercare is what protects that work, so you don’t trade “clean and fresh” for irritation or surprise dryness.

First 24 to 48 hours: treat your light peel facial like it’s “hands off”

Right after your Simply Acne Treatment (with a professional face peel add-on), your skin is more reactive than usual. We’ve already done the deep double cleanse, gentle exfoliation, extractions, calming jelly mask, targeted serums, and finished with moisturizer and SPF. Now your job is to keep the barrier calm so you don’t light up redness again.

Do this

  • Cleanse gently once or twice a day with lukewarm water and a mild, non-foaming cleanser. No washcloth scrubbing.
  • Moisturize more than you think you need with a fragrance-free, non-comedogenic barrier cream. A thin layer, then another thin layer if you feel tight.
  • SPF 30+ every morning, broad-spectrum. If you’re outdoors, reapply.
  • Keep things cool if you feel warm or flushed. Cool, clean hands. No ice directly on skin.

Skip this for now

  • Heat and sweat: no gym, sauna, hot yoga, or hot showers. Heat plus sweat tends to sting after a peel.
  • Makeup until redness calms down. If you have to wear it, keep it minimal and don’t grind it in.
  • Actives: pause retinoids, AHAs/BHAs, benzoyl peroxide, strong acne spot gels, and at-home exfoliants.
  • Picking and popping, even if a blemish looks “ready.” This is how scarring and dark marks start.

In Downtown Thousand Oaks, the sunny days sneak up on you fast, especially during our warm, dry summers. If you’re out near the Thousand Oaks Blvd retail corridor, grab your errands early or later in the day and keep your face shaded. The less UV your skin sees right after a peel, the better your tone tends to stay.

Days 3 to 7: peeling, flaking, and the “don’t rush it” week

Some light peel facials come with very little visible peeling. Others bring a few days of dry patches or flaking, especially around the mouth, nose, or chin. Either way, we want you thinking “support the skin, ” not “scrub it off.” One of our acne clients told us the next day their inflammation went down and they felt deeply hydrated and cleansed. That’s the lane we want to stay in all week.

If you’re flaking, here’s what actually helps

  • Layer moisturizer instead of exfoliating. Reapply when you feel tight.
  • Hands off. No peeling skin off in sheets, no tweezers, no “just this one spot.”
  • Keep cleansing simple. If your skin feels squeaky, that’s too much.
  • Stay out of midday sun. We love Thousand Oaks for the weather, but UV after a peel is not your friend.

Weekend plans note: For 48 to 72 hours, skip late-afternoon runs, hikes, and anything that leaves you sweaty. Sweat and heat are two of the fastest ways to turn “a little pink” into “why am I burning?”

And yes, this applies even if you feel great the next day. A lot of people do. We hear “so clean and fresh” and “glowing” all the time after peel add-ons. Protecting that result is mostly about not overdoing it at home.

The acne-safe routine we like after a professional face peel

After this service, simple usually wins. Our acne facial is already targeted and thorough, so your home routine should be the calm, steady support system.

A solid 3-step “peel week” lineup

  1. Cleanser: mild, non-foaming, no beads, no acids.
  2. Moisturizer: fragrance-free barrier cream that won’t clog you up.
  3. Sunscreen: broad-spectrum SPF 30+ every single morning. Reapply if you’re outdoors.

If you normally use active acne products, we generally recommend pausing them for at least 5 to 7 days, or until your skin has clearly calmed down. When you restart, go slow. One active at a time, a couple nights a week at first. If you’re using products we recommended, follow the instructions we gave you, because the order matters and mixing the wrong things is a common reason skin gets irritated again.

We see clients coming in from Westlake Village, Newbury Park, Oak Park, Agoura Hills, and Simi Valley, and the biggest difference-maker is consistency. Keep the routine boring for a week. Your skin usually rewards you for it.

When to reach out to our team (and what’s normal)

A little redness, mild tightness, and some flaking can be normal after a light peel facial. What we don’t want is worsening pain, redness that spreads, heavy swelling, fever, or anything that looks like infection. If that’s happening, contact us immediately so we can guide you on the next step.

"I bought an acne facial package to help clear my skin, and I’m already seeing improvements. The products Leica recommended have been helping too. She even texted me instructions on how to use them, which I really appreciate."

one of our regulars

That’s exactly how we like to support you. If you’re unsure about makeup timing, your gym schedule, or when to restart your acne products, reach out and ask. A two-minute check-in can save you a week of irritation.
