Simply Deep Peel aftercare: day-by-day care for best results
By Simply Facials | August 25, 2026
A lot of our peel clients tell us they feel so comfortable in our warm, clean space that they actually fall asleep during the service. Once you leave, the single most important rule is simple: keep your skin protected and untouched. That means clean hands, gentle cleansing, no picking, no heat, and strict sun avoidance while your skin is healing here in Thousand Oaks.
Simply Deep Peel is our intensive 50-minute peel ($225) designed to go deeper for stubborn concerns like severe discoloration, deeper lines, and acne scarring. It is powerful, and the aftercare is where you protect the result. This guide is the same straight-talk we give in our Downtown Thousand Oaks studio so you feel calm, clear, and confident when you get home.
First 24 to 48 hours: clean, cool, and hands off
Right after a deep peel, your skin is working hard. In these first two days, we generally recommend you keep things boring on purpose. That is how you heal evenly.
Quick rule: If it tingles, heats, or “activates, ” it waits. Stick to gentle cleansing and an approved barrier ointment or cream.
Do this
- Use cool compresses if you feel warm or puffy. Keep it light, no ice directly on skin.
- Cleanse gently with lukewarm water and a mild, non-scrubby cleanser when we’ve cleared you to wash. Pat dry with a clean towel.
- Apply only the healing ointment or barrier cream we approved. A thin, even layer beats a thick, sticky one.
- Sleep on a clean pillowcase and keep hair off your face.
Skip this (for now)
- Makeup for at least 48 to 72 hours. Your skin needs a clean healing window.
- Sweating and heavy exercise. Heat can increase irritation and uneven healing.
- Hot showers on your face, saunas, hot tubs, and pools.
- Active ingredients like retinoids, acids, benzoyl peroxide, or strong vitamin C until we tell you it’s time.
And in Thousand Oaks, sun is not “just a quick errand.” Even a short walk outside can be enough to trigger pigment when your skin is vulnerable.
Days 3 to 7: peeling is normal, picking is the problem
This is usually the week people get tempted. Your skin may feel tight, look a little dry, and start to shed. Let it. Forcing flakes off can leave you with raw spots and discoloration that lasts longer than the peeling would have.
“It’s been a week since my facial and peel at Simply Facials, and my skin still looks and feels amazing! It was nice and my skin wasn’t red right after, and I didn’t peel like a snake like I did with a different peel I tried many years ago.”

We want your recovery to feel manageable too. The easiest way to do that is to keep moisture steady and avoid anything that adds friction. No scrubs. No cleansing brushes. No “quick fix” masks. Just gentle cleansing, approved barrier support, and sun protection once your skin has re-epithelialized.
Thousand Oaks reality check: sun and smoke change the plan
Our summer sun is strong, and wildfire smoke season can make skin feel extra reactive. On high heat or poor air quality days, keep outdoor time minimal and skip sweaty workouts outside. Your skin will thank you.
If you’re trying to recover quickly for work or family plans, schedule your peel around your calendar. We often see Downtown Thousand Oaks clients book early evenings if they commute on the US-101, then keep the weekend low-key instead of a long sunny hike near Wildwood Regional Park.
Products that protect your Simply Deep Peel results (and what to pause)
You don’t need a whole new shelf. In fact, one thing clients appreciate about our approach is we don’t push products you don’t need. We’ll tell you when what you’re using at home is already working for your skin.
Stick with the basics
- Gentle cleanser: fragrance-light, no exfoliating beads, no acids.
- Barrier support: the ointment or barrier cream we approved, applied with clean hands.
- Sunscreen (when you’re ready): broad-spectrum, usually mineral is a safe bet for freshly healed skin.
Pause these until you’re fully healed
- Retinoids, exfoliating acids, scrubs, enzymes, and at-home peels.
- Waxing and strong hair removal creams on or near the treated area.
- Anything heavily fragranced that stings on contact.
Weeks 2 to 4: sunscreen becomes non-negotiable in Downtown Thousand Oaks
As your skin settles, you’ll usually see a smoother look and more even tone. This is also the phase where sun exposure can quietly undo your progress. Once your skin has re-epithelialized, we want you in daily broad-spectrum SPF. Reapply when you’re outdoors, especially during bright Thousand Oaks afternoons.
If you’re prone to discoloration, take this part seriously. Simply Deep Peel is designed for stubborn pigment and texture concerns, and that same category of skin tends to react fast to UV. Hats, shade, and SPF are your best friends for deep peel aftercare.
Presentable tip: Once we’ve cleared you for makeup, go light and keep tools clean. A fresh sponge or brush is worth it, and heavy full-coverage formulas tend to feel worse than they look during post-peel dryness.
We support aftercare and follow-ups for clients across Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village, Newbury Park, Oak Park, Agoura Hills, and Simi Valley. If you’re driving in, keep your car sunscreen and a hat handy so you’re not caught off guard when you step out into full sun.
When to reach out to us (and when it’s just normal healing)
Some redness, tightness, dryness, and visible flaking can be normal during deep chemical peel recovery. What we don’t want is a problem that gets ignored because you’re not sure what’s “too much.”
Call us right away if you have rapidly worsening redness, severe pain that isn’t helped by cool compresses, yellow or green drainage, fever, or signs of an allergic reaction.
“Leica has such a gentle, caring touch and my entire experience at Simply Facials was so relaxing and rejuvenating.”

If you’re on the fence about anything, reach out. We’d rather answer a quick question than have you guess and stress. And if you’re thinking ahead, Simply Deep Peel isn’t recommended for first-time clients or those with darker skin tones due to hyperpigmentation risk. We’ll help you choose the right next step for your skin.
